I loved marvellous location and how the place is fairly clean. This was exactly the king room I wanted in Stroud. The staff were pleasant and obliging and the wake up calls and ironing were free of charge.

We only used the hotel as a stopover for one night on our way north. We chose it because of it's location, we needed somewhere where we could have a long walk with the dog, before our journey onwards. Everything was very nice and we enjoyed our stay and our bar meal which we thought was good value. .
Only complaint was that the fire alarm woke one of our party in the middle of the night and she had to vacate her room along with other guests but no staff seemed to be in evidence so everyone eventually drifted back to their rooms and then later in the night the power in her room was off. None of the staff apologised for inconvennience or seemed to be aware that there had been a problem.

Quiet, comfortable, and very conveniently situated as we were researching my wife's family tree (centred on Chalford). Great success - we got all the way back to 1600s! Food was very good, with the exception of the Thursday evening 'steak special', in the bar, which was very sub-standard.
Apart from the 'steak special' we liked the hotel very much.

The location of premises
We stayed at hotel one year ago and had no complaints this time the standard of food served was very poor which we did pass comment on but no one was interested. Also you were not informed the bar area was closed for 2 weeks for refurbishment

Thomas
The executive king room had an extremely comfy bed. the hotel is in a particularly good location near the hill, taxis, and local hiking trails. - the hotel is dog-friendly.

The hotel was undergoing alterations and we only stayed one night for Bed and Breakfast. We found the bedside lighting and switches very well placed, good decoration, comfortable beds, good mirror and dressing table, easy chairs and good tea selection. Well equipped bathroom with hooks on doors, shelf space, good shower, flannels provided, good lighting and ventilation. Good fresh fruit and juices, good selection of cooked breakfast. Well designed gardens. Would certainly recommend it and will come again.
